Abstract
In Europe and Japan, many authours have reported the balenotherapy by adding physical treatment is of very benefit to normalize carbohydrate and lipid-metabolism. Tranquilizing function of hot spring are effective on psychological disturbance,
diabetic
autonomic and peripheral neuropathy.
We studied for effect of hot bath on diabetic neuropathy by 60 experimental diabetic rats and 20 normal control rats. Sixty diabetic rats were divided into four groups which were 1) diabetic group, 2) hot bath treated group, 3) insulin treated
group, 4)
insulin and hot bath treated group. Group 2 and 4 rats were immersed in 40¡É hot water for 20 minutes at 10 A.M. everyday. Group 3 and 4 rats were injected 2 unit intermediate-acting insulin subcutaneously at 8 A.M. everyday. We measured body
weight,
blood sugar, nerve conduction study in every week for 8 weeks. And then sciatic nerves of each group were compared by electronmicroscopy.
We could conclude that hot bath to diabetic rat facilitate insulin absorption but has no remarkable effect to nerve conduction change.
